The two RV Gypsies checked in
at the Bridgewater Hotel
723 First Avenue, Fairbanks, Alaska
then they greeted their family
at the Fairbanks Airport
July 8-10, 2016

July 8- 10, 2016 - The Bridgewater Hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Fairbanks. It offered free Wi-Fi that worked in rooms and the lobby, and was very fast. It was a smoke-free hotel. There was free self-parking (although limited space) and a free airport shuttle, free newspaper, a 24-hour front desk, plus standard coffee makers, TV with cable channels, hair dryers, and a laundry room. No microwave. No refrigerator. The hotel also had air conditioning, which is not in many hotels in Alaska. There were beautiful flowers outside in front of the hotel, and a view of the river across the street. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful. The hotel was reasonably priced for the area, but nothing special.

(The two RV Gypsies ate at Gambardellas. It was expensive but only OK considering the prices).

July 9, 2016 - The two RV Gypsies drove from the hotel to the airport to greet their family, who spent two weeks with them in Alaska. But first they had to rent a car big enough to hold 5 people comfortably plus luggage because they will not spend the entire two weeks in Fairbanks; they will be driving to several different areas in Alaska.

Family arrived - Karen Duquette's younger sister Ilse from southern California, plus the daughter of the two RV Gypsies, Renee, and their son-in-law John from southern Florida. They managed to connect on the same flight in Seattle to Fairbanks. And that was the first time they ever met.
